About the Authors
| Debra Dalton worked as a social worker for many years, overseeing community-based services for the elderly and disabled before she was diagnosed with medically incurable cancer at the age of 32. After being given five to seven years to live, she learned to thrive with cancer for 17 years and, in the process, transformed her life. She believed in giving back, and this book epitomizes that in sharing her story, her successes, and her failures, in order to help others through the medical maze. Deb was a wood carver, flute player, drummer, gourmet cook, and organic gardener. | |

Diana Kenney, who was Deb’s partner for the last 12 years of her life, was diagnosed with surgically curable kidney cancer shortly before Deb passed away. With an abiding interest in the Earth, she believes in treading softly on the land. To this end, Diana uses renewable energy, built a home out of straw bales-which is very insulative and nontoxic-and uses furniture made from beetle-killed wood. She is a hospice volunteer and is writing a book on natural home building. Diana lives in southwestern Colorado with two dogs and two cats and enjoys hiking, cross-country skiing, and photography. |
